Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) describes the level of alcohol in the bloodstream.  A
breath test measures your Breath Alcohol Content (BrAC), which is then
converted to a BAC using a series of assumptions that may or may not be true for
an individual.  Two individuals who consume the same amount of alcohol may
have vastly different BACs due to the time of consumption, height, weight, body
fat, sex, and stomach content.  Breath tests are not foolproof methods of
determining BAC, and the above calculator will simply give you a ballpark
reading of what your BAC should be based on a limited number of factors.

Ths tool is not intended to be used to determine a person's ability to drive or
perform tasks following consumption of alcohol.  The Blood Alcohol Content is a
rough estimate and is not intended to provide actual legal advice.  The results
should not be used to determine anyone's ability to drive or perform tasks while
under the influence of alcohol.  Please see the disclaimer page for further
warnings.

In the District of Columbia, the majority of the tests are breath tests.  Breath
testing results are affected many factors that can cause the readings to be
incorrect. Was the unit(s) used in calibration, were they used properly on you, did
any interferrants effect the correct reading on you, was the unit effected by
mouth alcohol, was the reading affected by Radio Frequency Interferene, and
were you offered the best test, the blood test,  ... ?

You should seek competent representation in any DUI/DWI case.  Ask many
questions of your counsel to be sure that he or she is familiar with impaired
driving defenses. Only by fully exploring the possibilities can you get effective
representation.
